    Description

A clean up of the Great Bay shoreline will take place at the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington, NH on Saturday, September 30 from 2 – 4 PM. Community volunteers are needed for the second year of this event, which is part of the International Coastal Clean Up. Groups and families are welcome. Volunteers will pick up ocean debris along shorelines in the refuge, in locations normally closed to visitors. No experience is necessary, but long pants and boots are recommended. Gloves, bags and snacks will be provided. Records of what is picked up will contribute to a global total of marine trash collected at coastal sites around the world. Space is limited (this event filled in 2016), and registration is available online at http://bit.ly/GreatBay2017. Free t-shirts will be provided to the first 20 people to register. This event is a collaboration between the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership, UNH Cooperative Extension’s Stewardship Network: New England, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation.
