PORTSMOUTH - The New Hampshire Art Association proudly announces the 38th Annual Lassonde exhibition, paying homage to the legacy of Omer T. Lassonde, April 3 to April 28 at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery. As a founding member of the New Hampshire Art Association, Lassonde's influence and legacy continues to resonate through the vibrant works showcased in this upcoming exhibition.

Reflecting Lassonde's multifaceted artistic spirit, the exhibition welcomes a variety of styles and subjects, mirroring his vision of creating an art association that welcomes diverse themes and genres. This eclectic collection of contemporary artwork showcases the finest creations by New England artists.

Kate Rasche, director of the George Marshall Store Gallery in York, Maine, served as the juror for this year's exhibition. With more than a decade of experience as both an artist and an arts administrator, Rasche meticulously curated the selection from over 400 submissions, selecting only 55 works and creating an exhibition of exceptional quality.

Commenting on the process, Rasche expressed her admiration for the breadth of voices and techniques represented in the submissions. "Though this show has no theme," she remarked, "clear areas of interest emerged, highlighting the profound connections artists have with their natural and built environments, local cultures, storytelling, social commentary, design, and the exploration of mediums."

Rasche's discerning eye culminated in the selection of works that exemplify originality of concept, compositional strength, and masterful execution. During the opening reception on Friday, April 5, at 6 p.m., the NH Art Association will announce the recipients of the coveted first, second, and third place awards, each accompanied by a cash prize generously provided by the Omer T. Lassonde Trust through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.

"In our region," says Executive Director Amanda Kidd-Kestler of the New Hampshire Art Association, "artists eagerly seek opportunities to showcase their work before industry experts such as our juror, Kate Rasche. I am continuously humbled by Lassonde’s generosity and vision, the impact of significant cash awards such as the $1000 first place prize, play a pivotal role in advancing artists' careers, offering validation and a financial boost that is often reinvested directly into their studio practices through the purchase of art supplies."

The 38th Annual Lassonde Exhibition will grace the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery walls from April 3 to April 28, inviting art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a celebration of creative innovation. The support for this exhibition is graciously provided by the Omer T. Lassonde Trust through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, honoring Lassonde’s commitment to nurturing artistic excellence in New Hampshire.
