PORTSMOUTH – For 26 years in a row, the Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Portsmouth with its Tree City USA Award. For the seventh year, the Foundation has also awarded its Tree Growth Award to the City’s Department of Public Works Urban Forestry staff. PORTSMOUTH —This year’s Children's Day logo has us thinking about love and kindness. Created by Rye student, Prudence Krecklow, the 2025 logo features two hearts holding hands. The logo artwork will be featured on the volunteer T-shirts, the Children’s Day map, social media, and the Pro Portsmouth website. Wednesday, April 16, 2025Eversource Begins Seasonal Pruning Around Utility Poles & Wires
PORTSMOUTH – Eversource has informed the City of Portsmouth NH Department of Public Works (DPW) that they have begun the seasonal citywide utility line clearance pruning efforts with their contractor Lewis Tree Service. The work is expected to continue through September on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic when single lane closures are needed.This work is important because vegetation that contacts utility infrastructure is hazardous and may cause fire,

Saturday, March 22, 2025Portsmouth NH City Council increases income limits for Elderly and Disabled Tax Exemptions: Deadline to file is April 15, 2025
PORTSMOUTH – The City Council recently voted to increase the income limits for both the elderly and disabled property tax exemptions. Income limits will increase from $54,000 to $55,534 for single taxpayers and from $70,793 to $72,804 for married couples.Applications for these exemptions are due to the Assessor’s Office no later than April 15, 2025, to receive the exemptions for the December 2025 tax bill. The City Assessor is holding a workshop to assist residents with the exemption rules and applications
