SUMMARY:3S Artspace presents: Honor Killing
DESCRIPTION:Allisyn Davis\, an American reporter for the NY Times\, heads to Pakistan to cover the honour killing of a young woman. Denied entrance -but armed with the most current technology- she conducts her investigation remotely from Dubai. Through a series of cultural collisions\, candid interviews\, and dangerous encounters she learns the horrifying details of this murder. These circumstances cause Allisyn to re-examine troubling details of her own past. One culture mirrors the other\, asking questions about forgiveness\, self worth and justice.\n\nHonor Killing will utilize a form of theatre known as telematic. This is a thertrical format that makes use of live-feed video to link actors or performance areas via the internet. Originally\, we hoped to collaborate with a theatre company in Pakistan\, working with their actors to play the Pakistani characters. Unfortunately\, we were not able to make this happen. Instead\, we will be working with actors from NYC in these roles. These actors will actually mirror what the characters do in the script\, who actually Skype in to speak to the play's main character (a New York Times reporter). We will actually have to rehearse this way as well\, as these actors will never physically join us in New Hampshire.
