DESCRIPTION:Lisa/Liza is the lo-fi\, psych-folk recording project of Maine-based guitarist\, singer and songwriter Liza Victoria. Deserts of Youth is her debut LP\, after numerous limited edition cassette and CDr releases. Deserts of Youth is an intimate collection of seven original songs\, recorded at home by Victoria\, using just her voice and her acoustic guitar.\n\n\n\nLiza explains: \n\n"Deserts of Youth is an album about the parts of our past that remain within us\, and visiting these landscapes with recognition of ourselves instead of a meditation on what has been lost\, or is no longer a resource or a path we can use. It is about meeting the past and facing it with a sense of ownership instead of abandon\; the idea that one can see a desert as a place of desolation or a place of needed reflection\, full of life\, and strength."\n\n\n\n-\n\n\n\nLina Tullgren\, the latest Captured Tracks' signee\, is a Maine born songwriter with an eye and an ear for darkness. And the light. Sometimes it's quiet\, but sometimes it's loud. When you grow up in the trenches of classical music and then\, down the line\, you learn about traditional fiddle music and old work songs\, you can get burnt out on everything after a while. So\, then you buy an electric guitar and start to write songs. If you aren't trying to be anything or anyone in particular\; the songs that result are in their own way\, raw\, sincere and unique. Wishlist\, now re-issued on Captured Tracks\, is a succinct\, enigmatic showcase of change and growth from a new voice. Lina is obsessively looking for that thing we learn is called "home:" growing up and staring inward at herself. She sees her mistakes\, her flaws and obsessions\, as opportunities for growth\, for forgiveness. You can be heartbroken and still be okay.\n\n\n\n-\n\n\n\nSquirrel Flower is a project of Ella Williams. Williams\, born in Boston\, is currently located in Iowa where she goes to Grinnell College. She has released 2 EPs as Squirrel Flower\, the most recent being "Contact Sports" out 12/16 on It Takes Time Records. Her music is about the ephemeral\, the emotional\, the political\, and the huge Iowa sky.\n\n\n\nAll Ages\, standing.
