SUMMARY:Great Bay Summer Storm Watch
DESCRIPTION:Local volunteers are needed to collect water samples in the Oyster River (Durham) and Bellamy River (Dover) during at least one storm in July. Requirements include willingness to get (a little) wet\, explore stream habitats at odd hours\, and follow simple water sampling protocols. This is a great opportunity for families interested in science! Sampling hours are flexible. The frequency of storm events in New England is predicted to increase and now more than ever it is vital to understand the effects that storms have on the Great Bay ecosystem. UNH researchers need help from volunteers this summer to understand the dynamic systems that occur in the Bay. Training will take place on June 30th from 5-6:30 pm at the UNH Jackson Estuarine Laboratory in Durham\, NH. You'll learn about sampling techniques\, and how storm events and sampling times will be communicated. Sign up at http://bit.ly/SummerStormWatch.
