SUMMARY:Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra: Sibelius\, Strauss & Concerto Competition Winner
DESCRIPTION:The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra closes out its 2015 16 season as it began\, with Strauss\, but this time it is Richard and not Johann. Till Eulenspiegel tells the story of the merry prankster who outwitted kings\, shopkeepers\, and landlords throughout Europe. This concert will feature the winner of the youth concerto competition\, always a highlight of the season. The stories continue with the enchanted Symphony No. 5 by Finnish composer Sibelius. If you listen carefully\, you can hear migratory swans played by the fluttering winds and strings\, bursting forth with the horns.
