SUMMARY:Prescott Park Arts Festival presents: Kurt Vile
DESCRIPTION:Kurt Vile is an American singer\, songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist and record producer best known for both his solo work and as the former lead guitarist of The War on Drugs. Bewitched by lo-fi figureheads like Pavement\, Beck\, and Smog\, along with a love for classics like Petty\, Creedence\, and Neil Young\, Vile possesses a warm grasp of both classic rock sounds and modern form. His lo-fi roots are reflected in his studio recordings that somehow feel both primitive and polished. \n\n\n\nVile has slowly\, quietly become one of the great American guitarists and songwriters of our time. Born in 1980\, one of ten children\, and raised in the city of brotherly love\, Philadelphia\, Vile was gifted a banjo by his bluegrass-loving father\, when what Kurt craved was a guitar so he played it as if it were.\n\n\n\nHis early releases of dreamy and psychedelic tangles of damaged but still-lyrical song craft announced a major new artist wandering in from the hinterlands.\n\n\n\nAmerican singer/songwriter Julie Byrne joins Kurt Vile as a special guest.
