DESCRIPTION:Step back in time to the glitz\, glamour\, and jazz-infused Roaring '20s as the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra\, dressed in the fashion of the era\, performs iconic selections from speakeasies and "The Great Gatsby." The toe-tapping program includes works by Gershwin\, Copland\, Bernstein\, Price and Light. The concert will also feature a special appearance by the Portsmouth Brass Quintet performing a selection of Scott Joplin and other 1920's jazz-era music. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the celebration of the evening and in the spirit of the bygone era. This special benefit concert is made possible thanks to support from: Jude Blake and Mike Bailey Jameson and Priscilla French Stephen Gaykan Barbara Henry and Nancy Winkle Eric MacDonald Dr. Clinton F. and Laurel Ann Miller Springer's Jewelers David and Sarah Young Proceeds from the evening support PSO's orchestral performances\, education initiatives and community programs.
