SUMMARY:The Music Hall Loft presents "Ball of Fire (1941)"
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate spring with Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper in this delightful screwball comedy\, directed by Howard Hawks. Based on a short story by Billy Wilder and baring a passing resemblance to "Snow White\," Stanwyck stars as "Sugarpuss" O'Shea\, a nightclub singer bursting with life and weighed down by guy problems. Gary Cooper is Professor Bertrum Potts\, a grammarian researching modern slang\, which Sugarpuss happens to have in spades. She needs a place to hide from her gangster boyfriend and the professor needs help with his project. Throw in seven bachelor professors\, a great pair of gams\, guns\, crossed signals and "yum yum\," and hilarity ensues. For her multi-dimensional characterization\, Stanwyck received her second Oscar nomination for Best Actress.\n\n\n\nNR 1h51m US\n\n\n\nAbout The Film Club\n\n\n\nJoin us for The Music Hall Film Club!
