Dance, Eat, and Celebrate in 18th Century Scottish Style! 

Diana Gabaldon’s fabulous Outlander series captured our hearts with a story of star-crossed lovers thrown together by mystical forces across hundreds of years. Thoroughly researched and fast-paced, these novels have delighted readers since 1991.
The award-winning Outlander series on STARZ, now in its third season, has brought Claire and Jamie to life, and introduced a whole new generation of fans to their love story, and to Scottish, English and French history and culture.

As we near the holiday season, Portsmouth Public Library will host a magical celebration for fans of Outlander, admirers of Scotland and its cultural traditions, and anyone who likes to dance!
Join us for a very special AFTER HOURS Outlander Cèilidh on Friday December 15 from 6 to 8 PM!

A cèilidh (pronounced KAY-LEE) is a traditional Scottish or Irish social gathering, involving food, singing, dancing and storytelling. If you enjoy contra or square dancing, you’ll love this. Live music by the Highland Soles will keep things lively! 

We will serve traditional foods like oatcakes, bannocks, haggis, and more. Costumes are highly encouraged but not required. Other activities include:
