Sail Portsmouth Maritime Festival introduces timed entry ship tour tickets to enhance visitor experience

PORTSMOUTH – As excitement builds for the 2026 Sail Portsmouth Maritime Festival, organizers are introducing a new timed-entry ticketing system for Tall Ship Tours designed to provide a smoother, more enjoyable experience for festival attendees.
The timed-entry process allows visitors to select a specific day and arrival window when purchasing tickets, helping reduce long lines and wait times at the Portsmouth Commercial Fish Pier during one of the festival's most popular attractions.
"We listened to feedback from previous festivals and wanted to make visiting the ships easier for everyone," said Mary Ann Allsop, Sail Portsmouth Board of Directors. "By choosing an arrival time in advance, guests can spend less time waiting in line and more time enjoying everything the festival has to offer."
Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets before arriving by visiting www.sailportsmouth.org. Advance ticket purchases guarantee admission during the selected time slot and allow guests to better plan their day at the festival.
For those who decide to visit on the day of the event, purchasing tickets will still be easy. QR codes displayed throughout the festival grounds will direct visitors to the online ticketing page, where they can quickly select the next available day and timed entry. Festival volunteers will also be available to assist guests with the process.
Tall Ship Tours will take place Friday through Sunday, July 24–26, aboard the Oosterschelde, the festival's featured Attraction Vessel. Visitors will have the opportunity to step aboard the beautifully restored Dutch three-masted topsail schooner, meet her crew, explore the historic vessel and experience a piece of living maritime history.
The Sail Portsmouth Maritime Festival begins the evening of Thursday, July 23, with the beloved Parade of Sail, featuring a spectacular procession of tall ships entering Portsmouth Harbor before a weekend of waterfront festivities.
Festival organizers encourage guests to reserve their Tall Ship Tour tickets early, as popular time slots are expected to fill quickly.
